Maingrid makes it simple and secure to connect your cloud provider account. Currently, we support AWS, with integration for GCP, Azure, and other providers, coming soon.
To link your AWS account to Maingrid, follow these steps:
Create an IAM User on AWS:
Log in to your AWS Management Console and navigate to IAM (Identity and Access Management).
Go to Users and select Add User. Enter a username and select Programmatic access as the access type.
Assign Administrator Permissions:
Under Set permissions, choose Attach existing policies directly.
In the search bar, find and select the AdministratorAccess policy to grant full privileges to this user.
Generate Security Credentials:
In the IAM user’s profile, go to the Security credentials tab.
Scroll to the Access keys section and click Create access key.
Choose an Application Type:
You’ll be prompted to specify the application type. Select either Application running on an AWS service or Application running outside AWS—both options are compatible with MainGrid.
Add Tags (Optional):
AWS allows you to add key-value pairs as tags for organizational purposes. This step is optional.
Download Access Key File:
After clicking Create access key, a CSV file containing your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key will be generated. Download this file and store it securely, as AWS won’t show the Secret Access Key again.
Connect AWS to MainGrid:
Log in to your MainGrid account.
From the main dashboard, go to Settings and select Connect Cloud Provider.
Choose AWS from the provider list, assign a nickname to this connection, and paste your Access Key ID into the relevant field.
Finally, enter the Secret Access Key.
Save and Verify:
Click Save to establish the connection. For added security, log out and back in, then return to Settings > Connect Cloud Provider to verify that your AWS account is connected.
Once connected, your AWS environment is ready to support clusters and resource management through Maingrid. Now, you’re ready to set up your first cluster!
